Keno - A Different Kind of Bingo

Keno is a game that is pretty popular in the United States but originated in China. In China, it has been called the game of the White Dove. The name Keno was derived from Bingo or Lotto because it has its similarities.

This game uses 80 balls numbering from 1 to 80. For every game the house will draw only 20 balls at random. The numbers will then be displayed on screens called a keno board. The object of the game is to be able to predict some of the numbers the house draws.

As you can read from above, it is very similar with lotto or Bingo. Unlike Bingo, it is the player who chooses what number he or she likes. The players can also pick as many or as few numbers they desire.

After choosing his or her numbers form the Keno board, the player will need to mark them off with a pencil. It is marked by circling the numbers. After being marked, the player brings his card back to the clerk or booth. The clerk will then issue a receipt to record the player’s transaction of his numbers.

However, before marking those numbers, it is important to decide how much you are willing to gamble on a ticket. You are required to list how many numbers you are willing to pay. The top line will list “Play 6 numbers.” This section means the payout you will receive after marking 6 numbers.

There is also a term called “catch”, which means the amount of numbers that you have matched from the numbers drawn by the house. The numbers drawn by the house will be shown on a video board or a big board.

The player will then mark up his card with a light-colored marker if he or she has a “catch.” The amount of numbers the player has caught determines how much he or she has won. I.e. if you only caught 5 numbers the payoff will be less. The amount of a dollar could be one if only 3 of 6 numbers have been “caught.” That’s why where you play; you should check the Rules and Payouts.

It is suggestible to purchase a multi-race ticket to prevent having it void. A multi-race ticket is the same numbers from 2 to 20 cards. The player can then redeem any winnings after the maximum number of games has been played. This avoids the peril of having a void ticket.

“Stray and Play” tickets are another option. This ticket can be used for greater than 30 games, even valid for 1 year.

Remember, if you are only new to playing this game, observe other players first and play with only little money at first.
